Climate Change Sicily
Personal Work

I came across an article in the New York Times that went over the many different ways that climate change has been affecting every country. Among other extremely concerning facts, temperatures have risen so much in Italy to the point that Sicily has developed a tropical climate perfect for growing... Mangoes??!

Growing up in Rome we never had tropical fruits. And I am almost positive I tried my first avocado when I moved to NY in my early twenties–also grown in Sicily now. Crazy and sad to think of mangoes as traditional Italian products, given the circumstances. Are we going to find them in the beautiful Teste di Moro ceramics as well, replacing the traditional Sicilian lemons they are usually decorated with? I highly recommend reading the story about these ceramics if you don't know it yet, for a little laugh to temporarily alleviate climate change related overwhelming thoughts.
